The Place

Turn off the road
and the noise stops

A wooden cabin with the lights on. Thatched huts, tables under the trees, open field running out to the treeline. There is a horse, a buffalo farm along the fence, and water beyond it.

In the evening the string lights come on, someone picks up a guitar, and nobody is in a hurry to leave.

Chitwan sits in the middle of every good loop in this country — Kathmandu down through Mugling, across to Pokhara, out to Lumbini and back.

We are a few minutes off that line. Somewhere to put the bikes, food that does not take an hour, ground to pitch a tent on and a fire to sit around after. Club runs, weekend groups, solo riders passing through.
